Nordplus Junior project „Nature - the basis of human health and positive emotions“
This project will provide methods and tools to develop children's, educators' and parents'
understanding of green environments, ecology, the importance of climate change and
sustainability. And thereby improve the physical and mental health of children. In kindergartens
and schools, children will be introduced to the use of recycled materials, familiarization with
environmentally friendly modes of transport, the opening of workshops for making toys in
nature, and improving the educational achievements of children with the help of natural means,
healthy eating. The goal is to link the applicability of natural programs (methods) to improve the
physical and mental health of children and educators. The Kneipp Association is very strong
and suitable for this project to achieve the goals and objectives of the project, as it has a lot of
knowledge to organize the education of children, project partners in nature, using its resources
and capabilities in a sustainable way.The organization of training courses and seminars in
Lithuania, Estonia and Denmark provides a common ecological theoretical base, and the
model of cooperation between parents and schools in the implementation of environmental
programs is a good practice for the participation of parents (Latvia). Involving the public in
nature workshops, attending museums, demonstrations, exhibitions, observation diaries,
making nature study notebooks or scrapbooks with drawings, photographs and artifacts, bird
watching, exploring nature also increases the benefits, visiting the forest and observing its
sounds , acquaintance with water sources. Traveling and visiting local natural sites, creating
a city logo with elements of nature increases children's understanding of local natural beauty,
knowledge and application in life. Working with children on national cultural heritage linked
to nature (healthy eating, clean water to Iceland) reminds the community of our ancestors'
connection to nature. Distributing the Parent's Guide to parents and the community helps raise
awareness of the benefits of nature education programs.
